AMS 070  7 DAYS MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMBING - MARANGU ROUTE

DAY 1  -  MOMBASA / MOSHI
Drive from Mombasa to Taveta border and then to Moshi for lunch after immigration formalities. The afternoon is spent organizing climbing gears and acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at Buffalo hotel.

DAY 2  -  MANDARA HUT
After breakfast,drive 45km to Marangu gate, an altitude of 1860m. Walk 9 km to Mandara Hut 2,744m (9000ft) through dense semi-tropical rain forest, for your first overnight. Meals and overnight at Mandara Hut.

DAY 3  -   HOROMBO HUT
Start early morning 4-5 hrs walk towards Horombo. The landscape becomes more ragged and rocky but superb with both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in view.  You spend the night at Horombo Hut,an altitude of 3,761m (12,335ft).

DAY 4  -   KIBO HUT  
Take a tiring 13 km walk which takes 6 hrs to Kibo Hut,4,732m (15,520ft) above sea level. Spectacular mountain vegetation like giant cactus, groundsel and lobelia appears. Meals and overnight at the hut.

DAY 5  -   GILMAN  POINT / UHURU PEAK
The final attempt to the summit is made in the early hours of the morning at 02:00 am.  It takes about 5 hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman Point 5681(18,630ft). From Gilman it takes 2 hours to Uhuru Peak 5,896m (19,630ft), the Highest point in Africa. Descend to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6  -  MOSHI
Descend is rapid. After breakfast, walk down to Marangu gate and then driven to Moshi town hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7  -   MOSHI / MOMBASA
After breakfast, you will be taken to Taveta border town where you will connect your transport back to Mombasa.
Daily departure, minimum 2 persons.

AMS 071 -  5 DAYS MOUNT KENYA CLIMBING  - SIRIMON ROUTE

DAY 1  -  NAIROBI - NANYUKI
Leave Nairobi accompanied by our mountain guide for lunch. Spend the remaining part of the day acclimatizing due to sudden change of altitude. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in
Nanyuki.

DAY 2  -  NANYUKI - OLD MOSES      
Transfer from your Nanyuki hotel after breakfast to Sirimon gate where the climbing starts. Walk through the rain forest for 9km (5 hours walk) to the first mountain hut. Old Moses(3,500m) for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3  -  OLD MOSES - SHIPTON HUT
After breakfast at Old Moses continue climbing through Makinders Valley to the second hut. Shipton Hut (4,200m).

DAY 4  -      SHIPTON HUT - OLD MOSES
Early morning, we climb to Point Lenana 4985m (17,058ft).  On a very clear day, we should
be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro in the south, Mount Elgon to the West and Indian Ocean to the East. We descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast and soon after, descend to Old Moses for the night.

DAY  5  -    OLD MOSES - NAIROBI 
After breakfast transfer from Old Moses to catch transport to Nairobi where the tour ends.
